The alignment dots on the face looked a bit like runway lights but we liked them and at take-off the ball flew on a reasonably high trajectory. The next day I was splitting 500+ yards fairways comfortably while scoring 50% Fairway Hits based on a 9-hole round. Great performance so it's definitely a contender for your money. However the dark looks, heavier 70 gram shaft and better sound and feel mark this out as a very good better players club. Once I catch up, I'm off to my local Edwin Watts. My drives were at least 25 yards further than my average drive with 909D2 had been on home course.
The Diablo Octane Tour however is primed to be a real long-drive competitor with its deep-face design and penetrating trajectory. Played 1st 9 holes with it today. Applying Forged Composite in tandem with a proprietary isothermal forging process has generated a measurable performance advantage over the metal alloys generally used to manufacture golf clubs. I can hit the 9 wood as far as I could hit my previous 7 wood, and so on down the line. Have used Callaway consistently in the past until tried something else the past two years. The confidence I have with this club really makes a shot in a narrow fairway so much easier. Time after time, the ball went high, long and straight or with a slight draw.
This is a great club to have in your bag. Also, these equipment companies must stay current in customers eyes or get bowled over by the onslaught of their competitors. Again the Octane outperformed the Edge but this time by a whole 10 yards. Who would not like to have a driver that is stronger, lighter, and faster than the rest? The pro told me at this point that about 10% of people who get fit don't really make any sufficient increases in distance to warrant a change. This website displays data from third party public sources. A good choice for mid to high handicappers who don't mind splashing out. Rated 5 out of 5 by teamroper60 from Love this driver! My first hit was down the middle and about 15 yards longer than with my own driver. Or, at least until something new comes out that I like even more.
The Hyperbolic Face Technology is the product of a new chemical milling process which selectively removes unwanted material and allows for very precise control over the thickness of the face. Rated 5 out of 5 by Dick from The distance is awesome. This club would be a great fit for the 8-15 handicap player looking for a high launch, lightweight driver. Low handicap: With the low handicap golfer 3 handicap the result became much closer to our surprise. Rated 4 out of 5 by Little D from Where did my slice go? In fact, the feel is so good that we could barely feel any difference between solid shots and the rare mis-hit shots.
Diablo Edge Drivers feature two unique shapes, but all the same technology. In fact, there is also variation across the lofts of the standard Diablo Octane, with the 13. The ball was just jumping off the face, and the sweet spot seemed huge. TaylorMade M2 was released in 2016. In fact, we found the standard model to produce more backspin on off-center hits, which helped keep the ball in the air longer and fly straighter. It has a full-length hosel, and a more rounded face so that I was able to adjust my swing to hit a fade or a draw. More energy is transferred to the ball thanks to this face design, which is thickest in the middle and thinnest around the outer edges.
Feels good in your hands and sounds so good I purchased a new Ping G-20 driver and for 18 months I just couldn't hit it consistently no matter what adjustments I made to my swing. The Tour version is an excellent choice for golfers who desire to shape their shots, while the standard model also has some shotmaking maneuverability, but in our opinion, represents the straightest driver Callaway has ever made to date. Could this be due to better aerodynamics making it easier to close the clubface through impact? So I bought the Diablo contingent on Playability Factor. The data presented is for information purposes only.
